Beer brand asks men if they're spending too much time with their wives.

(click ads, via)
Here you have the latest Australian piss-take on the age-old "Man Up" strategy for selling beer; previously, Victoria Bitter and Barons employed it by slamming that pathetically easy target, the Metrosexual.
Now Carlton is out with a more misogynistic take on the strategy. You have a choice, married males: go home, and lose some more of your manly identity, or stay out and get more shtfaced with your mates. Well, when you put it like that! And what a nice secondary message the campaign is sending over the shoulder of married men to single men—keep drinking and don't EVER enter this world of hell. Nice photo shoots, though. Ad agency: Clemenger BBDO, Melbourne.

the irony here is that beer contains phytoestrogens. men who spend too much time drinking beer, with their mates or wives, could end up looking like women anyway.

I don't understand the retro look to all the photos. And the tagline, as people have pointed out on aotw, is confusing. This is an ad for a beer, not a bar or a pub, where you can actually stay.

Not to burst your bubble, copyranter, but women really don't want men around all the time. A couple of hours a day is way more than enough. I applaud this beer ad for what I perceive as a public service announcement.

You're not bursting any bubbles; this is my second marriage.

Looks like you've had a few too many yourself with all the misspellings! it's Victoria Bitter (http://www.vb.com.au/) not Vitoria And when you say "loss some more of your manly identity" I'm assuming you mean "lose" some more of your manly identity. Anyway it makes sense that the images are so retro, because this is a backwards thinking campaign...sure to alienate many more than it attracts.

THANK YOU, Heather.
I work six days, 60-70 hours a week at my real job, so I write these posts in about three minutes, and I don't often "check my work."

Hydrangeas step aside, I absolutely loathe this Heather.

(Eyes rolling) She obviously doesn't know about The Grammar Cunt.

He's never made that many mistakes in a single post, and I missed them all! :( Damn you, Heather! I am the one correcting Copyranter. It's funny that he thanked you, but never thanked me.

Well, Mr. Cunt, that's because Heather also offered an opinion about the ads.

I don't think you thanked her because she offered an opinion about the ads. Anyway. You know I am not on here to proffer my opinion about ads. I am on here to only help you with your grammar and occasionally your choice of words.

Well GC, you're gonna have to take my word for it. I'm a pretty honest man (except when I'm working on ads).
