The most useless ad page in the history of advertising.

(sorry for the bleed-through. mags are using paper grades slightly above TP these days to save money.)
(click image) You've probably seen the American Express ads with the handwritten profiles of celebrity cardholders Martin Scorsese, M. Night Shyamalan, Tiger Woods, etc. Sometimes, Amex buys the following right-hand page and inserts this blank form. You really think I'm going to—what?—fill it out to maybe better get to know myself? To give to my boss? To hand in to my 4th grade teach Mrs. McKinley? Put it on my fridge? Do I win anything?

I'd kinda like to see some of the FEMA credit card-holders fill out this one.

I think that to make the form more useful for getting in touch with yourself, it needs to have more interesting questions, like "have you ever slept with an Argentinian man?" or "what was the most you ever vomited in your life?"

it's so you can date yourself.

I think it's just to see if anyone would fill out "My Card" with their real credit card information so they can have their identity stolen when they leave the magazine on the bus, in the office, etc.

Oprah does it in her magazine. She can pull it off. When Amex does it, it does smack of phoniness.

Its obviously a good ad if you're writing home about it...

just a tip... you can prevent bleed-through on scanned magazine pages by putting a piece of black paper behind the page when you scan it. works like a charm.

(and I hate those Amex ads too).
